The ninth commandment of not bearing false witness against our neighbor is widely believed but not always followed. Most people don't like to be lied to.
Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
In courtrooms, the judge is especially concerned about people telling lies. Many of them don't want to make a judgment based on bad information. People are typically "sworn in", to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Even guile is not appreciated by judges.
This ninth commandment of not bearing false witness is based on the two greatest commandments of Jesus Christ.
Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
I don't know of anyone that wants or likes to be lied to especially when they are making important decisions based on this information. Certainly it is not loving and against the will of God to lie to our neighbor.
