What is a Lie?

One way you can detect a lie, is to know AND BELIEVE the truth.

Pro 26:16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

Things that can keep you from detecting lies:

  1. You love the lie
  2. You like how powerful the lie makes you feel
  3. You would like to believe the lie even though you know it's not true
  4. You have pleasure in unrighteousness
  5. You are living in sin and don't want to repent
  6. You hate someone else and believing the lie justifies you
  7. You are seeking to justify your lifestyle
  8. A "friendship" to you is more important than truth
  9. You don't care enough about your real friends
  10. You don't care about the damage the lie will cause including your own family
  11. You only believe in appearances and believe that God doesn't care what is in your heart
  12. You believe you can hide things from God
  13. You don't believe that God will reward you for your beliefs
  14. You don't care about the soul of the person telling you the lie
