How Satan Deceived Eve in Garden of Eden
How did the serpent - Satan deceive Eve in the garden of Eden? Satan lied about God's intentions. The serpent told her promises he could not fulfill (fraud). See how the story goes and spot Satan's lie and fraud. Many religions are based on this lie and fraud of Satan.
Fraud - sinful and wrongful deception intended to result in financial or personal gain
Genesis 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Genesis 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Eve was deceived from the simple command of God. She believed Satan instead of God. She believed Satan's lie.
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Eve sinned (broke God's commandment). Adam and Eve died.
Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.Who was the most subtle of any beasts of the field? (the serpent)

What did Satan want? He wanted to exalt himself. see Isaiah 14:13-14 below.
Isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
The first thing the serpent did was question whether God said something.
Eve told the subtle serpent that they could eat of fruit of the trees, but not the tree in the midst of the garden. She knew what God said.
What did God call this tree "in the midst of the garden" (as Eve put it)?
God called it the "knowledge of good and evil". Please think of the implications of that. It is a head knowledge of good and evil. That's it. It is a form of godliness, a knowledge of it. It is being able to talk about good and evil. This is the ultimate trick of Satan - an appearance of righteousness and worse yet - a deceit - a belief in a lie that you can partake of it and live! Satan wants us to sin (break God's commandments). Oh how subtil and tricky the serpent Satan is. This liar promises something that looks good, but it will kill you! Flee!
The serpent said to Eve "Ye shall not surely die..." He directly contradicted God and claimed to comfort Eve with his special knowledge.
This is a horrible lie! The serpent exalted himself above God claiming to have a special revelation. He claimed to care about Eve more than God who created us! He thought he knew better than God. And the serpent was going to share this "revelation" or personal conviction that Satan had with Eve. Satan was lifted up with pride and he was going to give special knowledge to Eve that would exalt her even above God.
But Satan has empty promises he cannot fulfill. He has lies which tickle the ear but are not true. He is a liar who tries to trick and deceive us. Satan does not love me, and he does not love you! To love or put faith in anyone above God is idolatry! Flee idolatry, the Bible says.
The subtle serpent Satan continued: "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Here Satan claims that God knows something he's not telling Adam and Eve. Satan insinuates in a way that God is keeping it from them. The devile says it in a way that makes God look bad. Satan is very good at slandering and libeling God! Satan wants to make God look bad so that you will not trust God. Flee idolatry! Have faith in God!
Was it true that they would know good and evil when they ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil? Yes. (John 10:35) Well then, was Satan wrong? Yes! Satan was right in that they would know good and evil, but Satan was wrong in that they did die. In that very day they died! Satan didn't tell them that their spirit would die! Satan kept information back from them. Deceit can involve partial truth and partial lie. Deceit can involve withholding the whole story. Satan is subtle. If we make decisions based on what Satan tells us and choose to disobey God, it will cost us dearly.
Believing the lies of the 2x2s and getting my decision-making information from them cost me dearly. It wasted dozens of years of my life. They lied to me and kept back information. By reading my Bible I got to see who God really is. Oh how I longed for life instead of a head knowledge of the Bible. What great love I had missed out on! Praise God for Jesus Christ who brought me into God's presence and caused my spirit to be born! Life and Love with Jesus Christ is so much better than trying to mimic the new testament church and having a form of godliness and approval of men, but no power.
Eve suddenly saw that "the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise". Has Satan deceived you too? Are you using your own reasoning instead of the commandments of God to make decisions? I didn't even know the ten commandments as a worker. I could not even list them to you. Are you living by faith in God? I had faith in the "way" as taught by the workers. Or are you going by self justification? Do you believe you are wiser than those who are encouraging you to keep the commandments of the LORD?
Ah, the eyes of them were both opened! They looked at things differently. Suddenly they realized they were naked! Their thinking changed about themselves. Their actions revealed their sin. Adam and Eve died a horrible death. They were thrust out of the garden!
But God has provided Jesus Christ. He saved me. He can save you. Receive him, keep the commandments of the Lord and live!
As Paul wrote (to those whom he feared would became complacent and tolerate deceivers):
2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
I received as a child, a Jesus who started the 2x2 religion. I received as professing (the 2x2 way) a spirit that was not of God.
Don't expect Satan to be an obvious, bumbling liar. Put your faith in God, heed the warnings of others and flee idolatry and the lusts of the mind!
