Salvation Through Faith by the Grace of God

Salvation Through Faith by the Grace of God.

Matthew 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

From what do we need to repent? We need to repent of our sins. What are sins? Sin is transgression (breaking) the commandments/law of God. When Jesus preached to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, they knew what sin is.

1 John 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from something. We need to repent (turn away) from our sins, and obey God instead.

By placing our faith in Jesus Christ, and obeying the gospel message (repenting), we are saved by the grace of God.

Who doesn't know the story of the young ruler that wanted eternal life? He asked "Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

Jesus told him, "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother."

We need to repent of our sins (our will) and obey Jesus Christ, put our faith in him.

The apostles who were taught directly by Jesus Christ said:

1 John 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1 John 2:4  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Friend, I implore you, repent of our sins against God, put your faith in Jesus Christ and be saved by the grace of God. Obey the word of God and you have his assurance:

Revelation 22:14  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

1. God's and His Authority

We can see that God is the creator of heaven and earth.

Who is God?

God is the Father who dwells in heaven.

Hebrews 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Jesus Christ is the son of God. He is God in the flesh, Emmanuel. We are to worship Jesus Christ as written in Hebrews. Just as we have a body, the LORD God took on the form of a man.

Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Ghost is the spirit of God. Just as we have a spirit, the LORD God of heaven and earth has a spirit.

God Made Us, God Made Mankind

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Adam Sinned/Transgressed the Commandment of God.

God told Adam NOT to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

Eve and Adam broke the commandment of God. Breaking the commandments of God is sin. Wisdom is the tree of life. (Proverbs)

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan pretends to be our friend and offers us advice, counsel and claims to make us wiser than God. He claims to know better than God.

Sin causes separation from God.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Job 13:23 How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.
1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Sin is from entering into temptation. Sin is transgression of the commandments of God and of the law. Sin leads to death.

Through Faith in God We have Righteousness unto Salvation

Psalms 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

David is speaking of righteousness imputed by faith in God.

Romans 4:5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

The Two Greatest Commandments on Which Law and Prophets Hang

If you don't know much of anything about the Bible, you should know the two greatest commandments. If you meditate on and keep these two commandments, you will come to understand much more.

Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine. But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Repentance and Restitution - Fruit of Repentance

Luke 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

People who claim to love God but don't make things right with their brother are in essence thumbing their nose to God. You cannot be a child of God and hate your brother.

If we sin, we should repent and make restitution (recompensing people we have hurt).

Love is the keeping of the commandments and law of God. We are to love others as Jesus Christ loves us. John made it clear in his epistles when he wrote:

1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

We lie if we say we love God but transgress the commandments. Love by definition is the keeping of the commandments. You can tell the difference between someone who has girlfriend religion, or is born of the will of man or some religion by whether they keep the commandments of God.

We lie if we say we love God but hate our brother. Because love is the keeping of the commandments and one of two greatest commandments is to love our brother.

We know who loves God by whether they love their brother and whether they keep the commandments of God. Only people with faith in God are our brethren. People who don't have faith in God are heathen.

We know false prophets, false brethren and liars by their fruits: hate brethren and don't keep commandments of God, keep other people from trying to enter the kingdom. These liars place burdens on people who want to know God.

Faith - God Adding to the Church

Abraham obeyed God. Works are a result of faith in God.

Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Salvation comes by faith in God (the Father, Son and Holy Ghost). It always has and always will. (God adding to the church)

God made a Covenant with Noah.

Gen 6:13 Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.....but with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee....And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you....And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth...And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

God still keeps this everlasting covenant and the bow(rainbow) in the sky is proof of this.

God made a covenant with Abraham. Abraham believed God and put his faith in God.

Gen_15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates...And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee... And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. ...This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised...And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

God still keeps this everlasting covenant with Abraham. Thankfully I was circumcised when I was born, otherwise I would get circumcised now, because I believe in the promise and covenant of God Almighty.

God made a Covenant with Isaac.

Genesis 17:21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

God made a Covenant with Jacob

God remembered his covenant

Exodus 2:24 And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

God made a Covenant with Moses.

God made a Covenant with David

Old Testament

Moses was given the Law of God. Jesus Christ led the people out of Egypt. The children of Jacob/Israel offered sacrifices to remind them of their sin (transgressions) and offered sacrifices of thanksgiving. The earthly temple and sacrifices were a likeness of things in heaven. There were many likenesses to the things in heaven that can be seen in the story of the Exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt. The Old Testament was the ten commandments written on the fronts and backs of two tablets of stone.

Jeremiah prophesied of the New Testament Jeremaih 31:31, because the Jews had broken the old testament (previous testament/covenant/contract). The gospel going to the Gentiles (nonJews) was prophesied.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The law and the prophets prophesied until John the Baptist.

Luk_16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Baptism of John - John the Baptist

Joh_1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world

John the Baptist preached the gospel of repentance because Jesus Christ was coming to die and take away our sins. He was sent to prepare the way before Jesus Christ. This is the baptism of John.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ

Mat_4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus Christ - God, the son

Jesus Christ is the prophesied Messiah. He fulfilled dozens of prophecies. He is our high priest. He offered his life as a sacrifice for our sins in heaven. Only his blood can take away our sins. He chose out and sent 12 apostles to the Jews to preach the gospel.

Jesus Christ added to the commandments of God. Jesus Christ told us of things that the law and the prophets did not. Jesus Christ came from heaven. That's why he knows things we don't.

Baptism of Jesus Christ

The apostles baptized people into Jesus Christ. This is the baptism of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ Rejected by Jews

Jesus Christ was rejected by the Jews and he allowed himself to be crucified for our sins.

The Perfect Sacrifice to Take Away Our Sins

Jesus Christ was crucified. The ordinances (penalties of the law) were nailed to the cross. The law was not nailed to the cross. The new testament of God went into effect. Hebrews 8:10,11

Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The law (ten commandments) were never changed. The Bible says they are perfect and holy.

Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

Anyone teaching you not to keep the law of God (ten commandments given by God) is working against God and is working against the will of God.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace is for the humble, not the proud who exalt themselves and their rules above God.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Heb_10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

This is why I write of the covenants of God with our forefathers. If you don't believe in Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob..Moses, you will despise the covenants, despise the blood of the covenant of Jesus Christ and turn the grace of God into licentiousness to sin.

Holy Spirit Sent - Gifts of Spirit

When Jesus Christ was crucified, it allowed the Holy Spirit to come. Acts 2. Jesus baptized people in the Holy Ghost. This is the baptism of the Holy Ghost by Jesus Christ.

The more we realize we are forgiven, the more we love God and our brethren.

Luke_7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Salvation by Grace of God

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

God Removing from Church - Offenders Removed from Church to Preserve Church

If a brother sins against us, they should be told their fault. If they don't repent, then take witnesses. If they still don't repent, take to church. If they don't repent, then considered heathen (God removing from the church) Matthew 18.

The apostle Paul warned people before he went to sleep, saying:

Act_20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
