Questions People Have When Thinking of Leaving Cult

What do you do after you leave the cult?

Questions When Contemplating Leaving the Meetings

  • Where do I meet?
  • What Bible version should I read?
  • What church should I join?
  • What is the best denomination?
  • I'm afraid of leaving until I have something to replace it.

Where Will I Got to Church / Who will I meet with?

Hah. That's such funny now that I look back on it. It was a real fear before. Not now:) I don't worry about who to meet with since my salvation if from the LORD who made heaven and earth. Attending a church is not a condition of salvation . I am content with Jesus Christ. As for people to fellowship with, there are tons of people around who would love to have fellowship with you and show you God's love. Click on the contact link on the bottom, fill it out and I'll find someone to get in touch with. Pray that God will lead you into fellowship with others. Talk with neighbors and find out who is a Christian. Within a week you'll probably have a new-found friend. On my own street there are about three Christians. If I was a 2x2, I never would have been able to visit with them about Jesus Christ.

Rom_15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

These are common questions for people as they think about leaving the cult. There are not the only questions, but just common ones. I will give answers I have found to some of these questions here, but not all of them.

Rom_15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

And they indicate the ignorance of cult members. Ignorance caused by not believing in God, being misled by workers and being made fearful by the WORKERS when they tell people "So and so left, but they have nothing better to offer." When I say "ignorance", I don't say that to condemn, but to educate. The fears go away if you believe in God and if you learn the facts. Let me give you an anology.

Rom_15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

No, this is not a mistake that I've listed Romans 15:4 three times. If we don't believe in the Bible, how can we receive the comfort of God?

2x2 Worship

Col_2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

The Unknown God

Act_17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

The Emporer

Sure, you've probably heard about the emperor with no clothes. If not, here's a quick version of how I remember it. There was a proud king. A man came up to him and said that he could give him clothes that only wise people could see. So the deceiving man pretended to sew up some clothes and charge a bunch to the king. So the time came that the king went out to show off his new clothes (but he only has his undies on because he is too embarassed to admit he cannot see the clothes because he doesn't want the deceiving man to think he is not wise) and a little kid says "Look mom, the king has no clothes on."

In this analogy, the 2x2 salvation is like the emperor's make-belief clothes that could only be seen by wise men. Sure, the 2x2s don't want to admit they are dissatisfied by the WORKERS and their RULES. But they don't want to be dissatisfied with the ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN, so they put up with it. But occasionaly, there are some people in the cult who blurt out "The emperor has no clothes." But then they have to admit that they have been duped also.

So now, with this background, these same people (I was one of them) think to themselves this idea, "I'm afraid to take off these Emperor clothes until I have new clothes to put on." But hey! Remember, as 2x2s we were wearing emperor's clothes. We didn't have clothes on. We were naked spiritually. Only by putting on Christ, putting faith in Jesus Christ can we be clothed in his righteousness.

So I hope you can see how these fears and questions are based in ignorance. Why be worried about not having clothes to put on when we have been running around spiritually naked.

But, no cause for alarm. If you want to leave the cult and worship God, it's simple. Put your faith in God. Yep, that simple. Christianity is about putting your faith in God. It's not wear you meet people, it's about putting faith in God and obeying Him. It's not about what the name of the church is (provided they have faith in God and are not a cult), it's about putting faith in God. It's the righteousness that comes through faith that saves us, not other people's rules for our lives. Other people have not created us. Only God has a right to give us spiritual commandments.

So if you're worried about what you're going to do after you quit meetings, then don't fear. Put your faith in God. Pray. Read your Bible and read God's Holy Word spoken and recorded for your benefit.

Rom_15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

There is no temple to worship at now. There are no synagogues. Jesus Christ never taught that you had to worship in homes, temples or synagogues in the New Testament. He did teach some things about worship though.

Joh_4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Stories of Salvation

Were these people worried about what they were going to do after they received their sight? Nope, they started praising God. Raise your hands to the sky and praise the LORD who made heaven and earth, God Almighty will save you.

Other Scriptures

2Ki_17:36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched out arm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.
Psa_29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
