The Perfect Church

Is there a perfect church? What does the scripture say? Revelation - Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

This is in the book of revelation, written by the apostle John. The church at Philadelphia did as God asked. They did good works, had a little strength, had kept his word, had not denied his name, had kept his word of patience and were to hold fast to what they had.

Time to move to Philadelphia in Turkey? Something to consider. Oh wait. Turkey isn't what it used to be. The church of Philadelphia is not there anymore. Ok. Looking through Revelation we find other churches in other cities who weren't doing as well as this church in Philadelphia. In some were believers keeping God's word, not denying his name, but there were other rotten members in the church.

God rebuked them because he loved them. Isn't that awesome? They weren't in a great church, but some of them weren't rooting out the evil people. They were suffering/allowing wicked men amongst them. And some of them were allowing wicked doctrine, which influences like leaven in bread. God rebuked them.

Today there are thousands of denominations. Taking other names than God. And there are churches with evil doers, pedophiles, adulterers etc. And there are churches preaching wicked doctrines, not of God, leavening and destroying the churches.

If you're looking for a Saviour, we have Jesus Christ. Great! Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ. Get to know him by reading and searching the scripture. Scripture tells us who Jesus Christ is. Or otherwise you will likely end up in a church like the one you're leaving. Salvation doesn't come by belonging to a church. If you want fellowship, first repent and put faith in Jesus Christ. Then write down the teachings of Jesus Christ, write down acceptable and unacceptable behaviors and go looking around. Pray for help. But know this, only Jesus Christ is perfect. And if you get involved with a church with wicked people and wicked doctrines, you'll likely get carried away from your Saviour.

A Starter Checklist

  • No adulterers
  • No rapists
  • No pedophiles
  • No fornicators
  • No false prophets
  • No false doctrine
  • Sound teaching from Bible
  • People who love each other
  • etc

If you start fellowshiping and find problems, work with people to root out the evil people. If you find false doctrines, work with people to get those things stopped. If they don't like it, warn other people and move on. Jesus Christ is our Saviour. Salvation is through Jesus Christ. Loving fellowship is good and bad behavior and bad company and bad doctrine leads us away from God.

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. - Jesus Christ speaking to Saul, see Act 26:18, see Salvation through Jesus Christ.
