No Reconciliation

Reconciliation is not accomplished with the 2x2 religion. People remain bitter enemies. Divorced individuals are sent to different meetings. People don't admit wrong nor repent. Bitterness ensues.

The Bible tells about reconciliation, but where there is no faith in God, there is no reconciliation. Why? Why is there no reconciliation? Because there is no faith in God, nor his Word. What does God say about reconciliation? Does it matter if we offend and don't reconcile?

No Love / No Keeping of Commandments of God

Where there is no love (no keeping of commandments) towards brethren, there is no reconciliation and no fellowship.

Belief in Lie

Some people profess to believe in God because of social advantage. Or because they want people to speak well of them, so they can look good...have a good appearance. But they don't believe in the Word of God. They don't believe in the Bible. Here are a few lies they practice and teach:

Some people believe that the commandments of God are for the Jews. Or that they were for people in the "Old Testament". They believe (instead of God's commandments) doing: "spirit led" - doing what they think is right / what is right in their own eyes. Where the "spirit" is what they think. They conveniently ignore all passages in scripture that refer to the holiness of the law of God. They ignore the admonitions of the apostles to keep the commandments of God. And anyone who displeases them or doesn't meet their expectations of how they think they should behave has (according to them ) a "wrong spirit".

Instead of God's word, they may believe in doing what is right in the eyes of their pastor or elder. Or right in the eyes of their "church".... or right in the eyes of their friends to whom they tell their side of the story... or even whatever they can justify in their own eys. I've lived there before. There is no rest of heart. This is where you get people hiding TVs, hiding other sides of the story.

Some believe that they are under "grace". Where the idea of "grace" is something they have made into a magical approval and sanctification of God. And their faith is "just say you believe in Jesus Christ". But how can a person be saved by a "faith" that causes them to not obey God and ignore his word? Such thinking is idolatry. It's like making a cheap likeness to the gospel, worshiping it and trying to make other people think that your idol has value. But their conscience bears witness to their sin.

1Jn_2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Or some people believe that God is something you talk about at "church". Or "God" is a magical word you use to sound good. Or "God" is a mushy word you use to make people think you have the right intentions or motives. Or "God" is a word of mysticism and sorcery you use to make yourself superior in the sight of others.

However, a belief in a lie that keeps us from obeying the commandments of God makes vain our worship of God.

Mat_15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mar_7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

And ultimately, who is fooled? God? I don't believe so. If people believe God is like a pastor or elder and so easily fooled, then why bother worshiping him? Why not just freely say "I worship my pastor." or "I worship the WORKERS." or "I worship my ELDER." or "I worship my husband."

Unreconciled Offense

The Bible teaches that how we love others directly shows our relationship with God. I know this teaching is new to most people, including many "Christians". For many, the feeling is that if you can convince enough people of your "righteness", then you can just ignore Christians you have trespassed against. With the agreement of your "god" or their "approval", then the other person just doesn't matter. Or as Satan said:

Luk_4:7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

With faith in a conventient, agreeable "god", then they believe that they can just be ignored. But then also, they have to believe that God's commandments don't matter. Here's the verses that show this principle:

Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

What was God's response to those who didn't love the least of his disciples? Was it casual, "ah, no matter. They're just little guys."?

1Jn_4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Have you been a Christian been in need and other Christians made excuses not to help you? If so, then you've seen this belief. They came up with ideas that sounded Christian to justify not helping you? "Where's the fruit?", you may have asked yourself. Then you realize that they worship a different God. Their Christianity is like a pretty, artificial/fake rose with no fragrance. Now you know that something was funny and didn't add up between their profession to be "walking with God" and their works.

Strength for Reconciliation

Reconciliation comes through faith in God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins. It comes through faith that God will reward us. Here is a passage that illustrates God's will and gives us strength to reconcile (whether we are the offender or the receiver of an offense when the offender has repented and made amends:

Mat 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Questions to Ponder

Does God care how we treat others?
  • Is it a trivial thing to him?
  • Does it affect our eternity/salvation?
  • Does it matter how we treat others?
  • Does justification by others make it go away?
  • Can we ignore God's word and claim to be saved by grace?
  • If the people in Old Testament were saved by grace, then why did God have them keep his commandments?
  • Has God changed?
  • Does how we treat others reflect on our relationship with God?
  • Is God vague or very clear about how we are to treat others, especially Christians
  • If we can convince a thousand others but break the Word of God, is this OK?
