Funerals for members or the 2x2 religion are typically held by the workers. They are often held at funeral homes and convention grounds.
Workers will often officiate over funerals. While they won't perform marriage ceremonies, they evidently love the sad, melancholy setting of funerals and use it as an occasion to preach the 2x2 message. I think they take advantage of many people's fear of death and their ignorance about the subject.
2x2s teach that you either go straight to hell or heaven after you die. They don't believe in the Biblical teaching that you are asleep after you die. They don't teach that hell is "hades" or the place of the dead.
Workers believe that people who don't accept them as the only true servants of God will be eternally tormented right after they die.
My Experience with Funerals as a Worker
When I was a 2x2 worker and in my first year with Randy Russell, I asked Randy why we honestly didn't tell people that someone went to hell when we spoke at a funeral of someone who wasn't part of our group. Randy told me that we cannot know if someone was saved or not.
Then later, after Randy preached a 2x2 "into heaven" at a funeral, I asked him why he preached the professing person into heaven if as he said before that we "cannot know if someone was saved or not". Then he told me that he needed to assure the friends. This is an example of the hypocrisy and changing teachings of the workers.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beth El Cemetery with Karen Tenniswood officiating.
Burial or Cremation
Do 2x2s believe in cremation? From my experience, 2x2s may get buried or cremated and there is no specific teaching on this. Workers that I know that have died have always been buried.
