Hymns Old & New - R L Allan & Sons Publisher

Hymns in the R L Allan and Sons Hymbooks

There are 412 Hymns in the 2x2's hymn book published by R L Allan and Sons.

A little-known tidbit: R L Allan & Sons is a made-up corporation just for the purpose of publishing the 2x2s own Bibles and Hymn books.

2x2s sing many Christian hymns they have modified. These hymns still contain many truths from Bible and the gospel and focus on Jesus Christ. And yet, despite singing these hymns at every meeting, 2x2s don't accept Jesus Christ as God their LORD and Saviour. In fact they reject Jesus Christ as being God and many won't even search the scripture to see if it so.

Identifying the 2x2s

If you have been invited to a "Gospel Meeting", "Bible Study" or "Sunday Morning Meeting" and you wonder if this group you are meeting with are 2x2s, then look at the cover. Does it say "Hymns Old & New"? Now, open their hymn book and look in the first three pages to find the publisher. Does it say "RL Allan & Sons"? If so, then you know this group is the 2x2 religion. No other religion in the world uses this hymn book.

If you do not have access to a hymn book, and you are not sure if they are the 2x2s because they won't answer your questions directly, then ask them, "Who publishes your hymn book?" This of course will make them suspicious why you want to know. Is it RL Allan and Son?" or better yet, ask them for their hymnal and look at the first three pages yourself to find the publisher. Does it read RL Alan & Sons?

The first hymn in the 2x2 hymn book is "Tell Me the Story of Jesus". Here they don't believe Jesus Christ is God but they use a modified Christian hymn first in their hymnal.

Similar Hymns

The overseers and workers have chosen hymns that are similar to those sung by common denominations. For example, Hymn 1 is titled Tell Me the Story of Jesus. They have taken this hymn by Fanny Crosby who was a Christian and changed several words in it. If a Christian were to sing this hymn, they may notice a few words were changed, but by and large they may think "Oh, this is a Christian group singing Christian hymns." When in reality, they are a cult that idolizes workers and have rejected the true gospel of Jesus Christ. The workers have no intention of teaching people about the true story of Jesus, but they want to tell you about the Jesus they believe in who supposedly started their organization, made them the "remnant", ordained meetings in the home and started their 2x2 ministry. What better way to disguise themselves by encouraging people to want to know the story of Jesus? And what a crueler way to lead people to hell by deceiving them when they wanted to know about the Jesus Christ of the Bible.

What's important to remember is that Satan loves to deceive and is very subtle.

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Just because 2x2s sing their modified hymns that sound Christian, does not make them a Christian anymore than a crook or spy may sing the national anthem.

Why Didn't God Show Himself Before When I Prayed?

Many ex2x2s after leaving the cult wonder why the LORD God didn't show them the truth before. But God has. I was blind. I had the hymn book but didn't see it. Because of the lies I believed, I could not believe the truth. 2x2s have had their Bibles and the hymns that pointed to Christ all along. But it takes God to open the eyes of the blind. The only people drawn to Jesus Christ as those the Father draws.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 15:24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

If you are crying out for help from God, would you consider putting your faith in the LORD God instead of men? Consider this scripture:

Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

Do you believe God can help you see who Jesus Christ is? Do you have faith in the LORD God? If you are tired of being blind and stumbling along with no joy in the 2x2 way, please consider putting your faith in God and taking a forward step with Jesus.

If you are worried about the repercussions from the 2x2s, please remember, without faith it is impossible to please God. And also, God has power to cast our soul into the lake of fire. All 2x2s can do is slander you, which may be unpleasant in the short term, but in the long run it's a drop in the bucket compared to the joy of knowing God.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

There are several important things I would like to point out right away about the 2x2 hymn book:

  • You can identify followers of the 2x2 religion by looking at their hymn book and finding the "RL Allan and Son" publisher on about page 3. R L Allan & Sons is a corporation that ONLY prints 2x2 religious material.
  • The older brothers, overseers and workers have put a lot of time and money into choosing their hymns by a committee. Which hymns they kept and which hymns they have omitted is by their own design.
  • The first and most important issue is that the most prominent doctrinal hymns like "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" and "In Christ Alone" are rejected by 2x2s from their hymns books. Because 2x2s don't practice nor believe in their heart in salvation through faith in God and by the grace of God, they don't include hymns that teach this. You can tell a lot about the 2x2s by the songs they won't sing.
  • 2x2s have 2 hymn books. One of the hymn books contains hymns more common to other denominations. It is designed to make people feel more at home when in a gospel meeting. It has ~170 hymns in it. They may be word-only versions also, or it may have musical notation. The second hymn book if for people who have professed. It contains the first ~170 hymns plus additional hymns to total 412 hymns. These additional hymns are focused towards people who have bought into the idea that they are the only way.
  • They have omitted hymns that contain doctrines that contain fundamental teachings of Jesus Christ that they don't believe in
  • In the topical index in the back, there is no topic of salvation. Yet, they often say "Nothing matters but salvation". If a person meant what they said, they would have a topic of "salvation" and many hymns on the subject.
  • While many hymns are similar to Christian hymns, they have changed wording to insinuate that they are the way, because this is what they believe.
  • They have changed wording to allude to the idea that they are the "way" to heaven. They DO have a section in the topical index called "way". They believe they are the way. They call themselves "the way", and "the truth".
  • They have changed the words in the hymns that were written by Christians to fit in with their preaching style - which is full of insinuation, guile and false doctrine slipped in among many "nice thoughts"
  • They have chosen hymns that use words that they have redefined in their preaching
  • They use hymns to brainwash, emotionally abuse and manipulate their friends. Hymns are used to get kids emotional and worked up so they will profess.
  • They choose hymns in meetings according to who is present in order to manipulate people to their own destruction
  • Some hymns are written to particularly glorify and lift up the older brothers, overseers and workers.

Inference Through Hymns

I've noticed a pattern to the hymns chosen that they can or do infer that they are "the truth" or could be misinterpreted to believe that. The hymns are chosen in meetings to coordinate with the 2x2 message the workers want to insinuate in meetings. This way, when a hymn is associated with a certain message of the workers, people come to understand that they hymn is teaching something that it really is not. The 2x2 cult has used inexplicit hymns sung by Christians to their advantage this way. And since the words "the truth" means something different to cult members than it does to Christians, then Christians and 2x2s could sing a hymn and both get entirely different messages from it. This happens in their preaching too. This is because in their brainwashing, the workers have redefined many words. What one word means to you may mean something completely different to you. For example, if someone says "All who love the LORD will love the truth." To them this means that if you love God, then you will join and love their organization (the truth). However a Christian, this would mean that if you love God, then you lover truth (what is good and right and honest). So there is a radical difference depending on who is singing the hymn: the 2x2s are being brainwashed, but an ignorant person may think it is a nice thought.

Beliefs shown in the hymns they wrote and chose

Many people have said, and many 2x2s claim not to publish their beliefs. Yet their heart-beliefs are clearly shown by the hymns they allow in their hymn book and the hymns that 2x2s have written. They have assembled dozens of workers to choose and talk about which hymns to have in their last hymn book.

The 2x2s hymn book is published by R L Allan and Sons.

I think Melissa71 said it well on a post on a message board:

When I was growing up going to meetings and professing -- I was made to feel like it was VERY bad to listen to Christian contemporary music. I could listen to AC/DC, Aerosmith and other secular music with sexually explicit lyrics -- which might be frowned on a little by the workers (the Friends didn't seem to mind), but wasn't considered NEARLY as bad as listening to Christian music!! I didn't listen to secular music around the workers, but I even went to secular music concerts with the other Friends my age-- and we listened to the REAL worldly music all the time when we were together. But, I didn't dare suggest going to a Christian music concert or listening to that "worldly" Christian music -- or my professing friends would have had a conniption. WHY?? - Melissa71

The Focus of Meetings

The main focus of what I see in the hymns is on "the way", the workers, suffering, need for cleansing etc. What I find missing is songs about: Jesus being God, Praising God etc. As one person wrote "We don't do that joyful noise thing."

Imagine 2x2s Praising the Lord

The meetings do not uplift the Lord, nor is joyful praise to God encouraged. If you have ever been to 2x2 meetings and have gotten out and been around Christians (just try not to laugh now), what do you think would happen if someone lifted up their head, raised up their hands and praised the Lord in meetings? Ok, I think you get the picture. Doesn't matter what you say is in the hymnbook or not, the fruit of the workers cult theology show themselves in how the 2x2s behave.

Exercise in Showing the True Beliefs of the 2x2s

In your Sunday morning meeting (during prayer time), raise your hands and praise the LORD. What do you think will happen next? You can see how praising the LORD and worshiping him is not acceptable in meetings. They believe in a lifeless form.

Try this now, hang your head and tell how awful and unworthy you are of the only true servants of God (insinuating the workers), but how grateful you are that you ever found the meetings. Do you think anyone will bat an eye? These two exercises (can even be done in your mind), show who is being worshiped in meetings.
