Faith in Jesus Christ
I found out that I am saved by faith in Jesus Christ.
Faith is similar but different in some respects than belief.
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
For example, many people believe in Jesus Christ. Many people believe in God. But the Bible teaches us that even the devils believe in Jesus Christ, but are not saved. So, faith in Jesus Christ is essential, and belief in Jesus Christ is not enough. All who have faith will also have belief. But some people have belief and don't have faith in God. And to say "I believe" is not enough. We must actually have faith in God.
How do we know if we have faith in God? How do we know if someone else has faith in God? These are important questions to answer to have confidence in salvation and whether we want to fellowship with someone else. This brings up the idea of "works" or fruits.
A brief overview of what I learned: Jesus Christ created heaven and earth (John 1:3), he has authority over all (John 13:3), he has given commandments (Matthew 5:22) and we have all broken at least one commandment (sinned) and disobeyed God (Romans 3:23). As a result, we are all sinners and in bondage to sin (John 8:34). Jesus Christ offered his holy, harmless, undefiled life once as a sacrifice to atone for our sins (Hebrews 7:26-27) to redeem us from sin (Titus 2:14) and if we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we will receive power, born again, (John 1:12) be redeemed, forgiven, reconciled to God, baptized by Jesus Christ in the Holy Ghost (Matthew 3:11), have works that glorify God and enjoy eternity in heaven with Him.
