The Testimony - Name Taken by 2x2s
The Testimony - was a name that 2x2s used to take to describe their religion. I would like to show you how that their religion never has been, is not and never will be the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Testimony - Definition
One definition of the word testimony is "a formal written or spoken statement, especially one given in a court of law."
In many scriptures, this definition fits. In fact, in all of them, this definition fits. Let's go through the new testament and list and think about scriptures that use the phrase "the testimony".
John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
This scripture using the phrase "the testimony" is referring to the testimony or account of two men. This scripture is not about a religion taking the name of "the testimony". And certainly this passage is not about two men telling lies that they have planned ahead of time to deceive people, being true. The scripture does not justify wicked lies.
Please note that a person could die under the Mosaic law by the witness of two people. More than 2 people have testified against the 2x2s. In fact, they are going to suffer more than death according to the scripture for doing despite to the Spirit of grace:
Hebrews 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
1 Corinthians 1:6
1 Corinthians 1:6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
Here Pauls letter to the church at Corinth is not about a religious group either. Paul is referring to the testimony of Jesus Christ. What is the testimony of Jesus Christ? Before a person dies, a person often writes a "last will and testament". This definitely fits the description of "a formal written or spoken statement". The testimony or will of Jesus Christ was prophesied of in Jeremiah 31:31:
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
The testimony of Jesus Christ is also written down by the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 8:
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Now a will or testament or last testimony goes into effect when the testator dies. As explained in Hebrews also:
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Heb 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Heb 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
This shows the testimony of Jesus Christ to be God's law written on our hearts and in our minds. The 2x2s do not follow nor believe in keeping even the ten commandments of God. Three of which are not taking God's name in vain, bearing false witness against their neighbor and remembering to keep the sabbath holy.
Since 2x2s don't keep the testimony of Jesus Christ, nor honor the Son of God, they are not the testimony of Jesus Christ. The testimony of Jesus Christ is still the same. No man has power to change it.
1 Corinthians 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 Corinthians 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.
2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Revelation 1:2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
Revelation 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened:
Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
