Matthew 10 and 2x2 Religion

Here I go through Matthew 10 and give you my current understanding of Matthew 10 from the perspective of when I was a worker and from what I understand now after putting my faith in the LORD God who made heaven and earth. Matthew 10 is where Jesus sent the apostles to the Jews. If you are looking for when he sent them to the gentiles, see Matthew 28

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

A disciple of Jesus Christ is a follower of Jesus Christ, who is saved by faith in God and obeys God's word. I was a disciple of the workers, not of Jesus Christ. I didn't know at that time if I was saved or not (I wasn't).

Jesus gave his 12 chosen disciples power against unclean spirits. When I was a worker, I never had power against unclean spirits. I didn't know what they were. My companions (Randy Russell the first year and Craig Jacobsen the second year) did not talk about nor cast out unclean spirits. I could not cast out unclean spirits.

I never saw any workers that had this power nor the ability to cast out unclean spirits either.

I could not heal all manner of sickness. I couldn't heal any. I could not heal all manner of disease. In fact, many workers lost their health. And I got sick (food poisoning, salmonella) while I was a worker and almost died after being denied medical care for so long.

Matthew 10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

When I was a worker, I was sent out to to a fraction of the State of Oregon (Albany and Corvallis area) by Howard Mooney, the 2x2 overseer. I was not sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Howard told me after I "went out into the work" in Boring, Oregon, that I was now an "ordained minister of God". I didn't know what that meant or what I was supposed to do with that information. Howard sent me to be with Randy Russel in the Albany / Corvallis field.

Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

When I was a worker, we preached that "we were the way that led to God" and that "people needed to go to meetings and profess". We read from the Bible and injected the 2x2 message into our preaching. We preached to people about the 2x2 religion, the homeless ministry, meetings in the home etc. We didn't preach about the kingdom of God as prophesied in Daniel except as a cover or cloak for authority (fraudulently) to bring people to meetings and profess and support the workers.

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

I never received power from God or the 2x2 overseer to heal the sick.

I never received power from God or the 2x2 overseer to cleanse lepers.

I never received power from God or the 2x2 overseer to raise the dead.

I never received power from God or the 2x2 overseer to cast out devils.

I never heard or saw a worker that could any of these things either. Since I did not receive this freely from Jesus Christ, I could not do these things freely.

Matthew 10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

Here Jesus Christ tells his 12 disciples that they don't need to provide gold or silver etc, nor scrip or extra coats or shoes or staves for their journey. He will be providing for their needs, "the workman is worthy of his meat". They would be working for him and he would be providing. Just like when you get a job for someone, and you are traveling and they cover your expenses.

Make no mistake - Jesus Christ didn't say to them to get rid of their possessions and give him the money. This lie is taught by workers to gain money from people.

As a 2x2 follower "entering the work", I was instructed by Everett Swanson to sell everything and bring the money to Boring Convention. When I came to convention, Stanley Sullivan told me to give him all my money.

So here I was working for Howard Mooney and his staff of workers, and instead of being compensated for working for them, they wanted me to sell everything and give them all my money!

This is so opposite of how Jesus told his apostles that they didn't need to make preparation for their journey because he was going to take care of them. As he said, "The workman is worthy of his meat(hire).

As if this wasn't bad enough, each year, the workers told me to save up all my money throughout the year and bring it to conventions where Stanley Sullivan would again take my money. I was a money-collection boy from the friends and delivering it to the senior workers and overseers.

Mat 10:11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

In my first year as a worker, we moved from house to house. We did not go into a town, enquire about who was worthy and stay there until we left the town. We made no attempt to follow this scripture.

Mat 10:12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.

When Randy Russel and I came to a house, we did not salute it. Same with Craig Jacobsen, my second year companion.

Mat 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

We didn't care if a house was "worthy". It was a place to stay. We had no peace to bring to the house. People who allowed us into their homes were worse off afterwards than before. The 2x2 message does not bring peace. It brings apathy, ignorance and pride.

Mat 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

We were not sheep in the midst of wolves, we were more like wolves in the midst of sheep. My first year companion was attracted to a woman Heather in the field who was having marital problems. He had us go over to Heather's house at night to play games. Even Heather's two daughters could see what was going on. They sang "Randy and Heather, sitting in a tree, K - I - S - S - I - N - G. First comes love, then comes marriage...." Randy and Heather rebuked them. We went on picnics with Heather. Randy worked on Heather's car. They really enjoyed each other. Guess how Heather's husband felt about it? When she quit sleeping with her husband how do you think her husband felt about Randy talking with her about it? When we (Randy and I) taught that TV's were evil, how did her husband feel about it? Have you ever seen an evil TV? Now there are many TVs in many "professing" peoples homes. Was it worth dividing a home and encouraging a divorce because of a TV? Many professing people watch TV when going to the beach or traveling and staying at a motel. Professing kids watch TVs at other kids homes. What do you think workers watch on the Internet? This is the damage that the overseer's rules of forbidding marriage for workers caused. See 1 Timothy 4:3 . I think many men Randy's age would have done the same thing. The "homeless ministry" teaching of the 2x2 overssers and the forbidding of marriage have caused more than one problem. If this was what I saw in my first year, what were other people seeing in their fields?

Mat 10:17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

People needed to beware of us, and the seducing spirits in the meetings. We had the testimony that "we were the way", so God could not use us to witness to governors or kings. Plus, it was not the Spirit of God speaking through us, it was seducing spirits.

Mat 10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

We helped children rebel against their parents. We turned mothers against their daughters and daughters against their fathers. We were not hated by the apathetic followers. We were popular. They came to us to speak to them each week. We were hated by some because of our evil deeds, not because of Jesus Christ. Others had to endure us. We were not saved and did not teach that they could know they were saved.

Mat 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

We had no persecution. The only thing Randy had to endure was Heather's husband asking Randy what he was doing with his wife! We didn't go over the cities of Israel until the Son of man came again. We raised ourselves above Jesus Christ, preaching things that were not in the Bible in order to further our cause! We were not becoming as Jesus because Jesus Christ was not our master. People didn't say we had a devil. The followers in Albany practically worshiped us. The fed us, gave us a car to use, provided a place to sleep etc. We hardly worked, just going from house to house talking to people and rarely having "Bible" studies.

Mat 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

We didn't fear anyone, because few hated us. We didn't fear God either. Randy told me not to tell what went on between Heather and him. But, now that is being revealed. We didn't dare talk about what we saw in the darkness. We didn't talk about the sexual problems in the work. This was the first time I had a guy (Wayne Harris) put a red rose in my room. I didn't respond to that. Wayne put a red rose in Randy's room too. At age 18 and 19, I just tried to ignore it.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

Sad to say, we did not fear God. We didn't know God. We knew something about God, but didn't know him personally. We made up a 2x2 god that we served. I didn't know what "the soul" was, neither did I have much of an understanding of "hell".

Mat 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

I didn't believe in praying for "natural things". I didn't understand why God kept track of the number of hairs on my head. I didn't feel valued by God very much. I thought God was pretty demanding. I was praying that God would "show me his truth" even while I was an 18/19 year old worker. I'm glad now that He has. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. A cult group is not "the truth".

Mat 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

We didn't confess Jesus Christ to our followers. We confessed ourselves as "the truth". People who professed in our meetings didn't confess Jesus Christ. They just stood up while we sang a song. Our followers would be embarrassed to talk about Jesus Christ in a restaurant. But they talked about the workers frequently. It was all about the workers, the meetings, the conventions, the special meetings, the workers, the meetings.

Mat 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

I used these verses to teach that if people's parents didn't want them to come to meetings, then that person needed to disobey their parents to come to meetings. Also that the 2x2 followers needed to love the meetings more than their kids.

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

The followers were to lose their lives for us, so they could find their lives in us. I was not taking up my cross. I was not denying my self, I was denying Christ and not following his commandments. I didn't understand the commandments of Jesus even though I had a Bible and preached from it. All I could see in the Bible was the 2x2 message that had been drilled into me through the 2x2 meetings ever since I was a child. I was following the pattern of the overseer Howard Mooney and my companions Randy Russell and later Craig Jacobsen.

Mat 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

I used these verses to teach that people who received us as workers were receiving Jesus. It was just as if they were receiving Jesus. If they gave us money, it was as if they were giving it to Jesus Christ. And then bring up the "freely you have received, freely give", used as in "we have freely given you the 2x2 message, now you freely give us a place to sleep, food, money etc.

Email to me from Brandon Miller which Demonstrates Results of 2x2 Teachings

You will see how the 2x2 message creates an idolatry and love for workers but not for God. You don't see "I love Jesus Christ." or "I love God."

My name is on a field list.

I don't want to say "yes" or "no" because I don't know what you have
in your mind as to what it means to be a part of this "group."

So, I will state it this way:
- I love going to meetings
- I love going to Bible studies
- I love going to Gospel meetings
- I love going to conventions
- I love telling God that He still has free reign over what He wants me to do (profess)
- I love being lead by the Spirit
- I love having the workers in my home when they can
- I love having fellowship with those who can state things like that above
- I love having a meal with the workers and visiting with them about
spiritual things

I have never been shy to say yes or no to those things.

I hope this makes it more clear.

Please don't think Brandon is an exception. I was so enthralled with the workers that I became a worker.

Who were the 12 disciples to go to?

Who were they not to go to?

What were the 12 disciples to preach?

Why didn't the 12 disciples need to bring along their money and extra clothes?

What did Jesus say the workman is worthy of?

Could the 12 disciples stay with just anyone in the city?

Where were the 12 disciples to stay when they entered a city?

How long were they to stay there?

Why would they be brought before governors and kings?

What were they to do if they were persecuted?

Can anything be hid forever?

Were any of the things that Jesus taught them private?

Who were the disciples to fear?

Who will Jesus confess to his father?

Did God care about their physical well being?

Did Jesus come to bring peace to the earth?

Are we worthy of being a disciple if we love the overseers and workers more than God?
