Founded on the Workers
The workers are founded on previous workers and not on Jesus Christ. The workers believe that a "revelation" that "they are the only true servants of God" is the foundation of their church.
Arnold Blonke Glen Valley Convention 8/4/88 "We (the workers) are continuing the work on the foundation."
The only way I began to understand the beliefs and traditions of the 2x2s was to read about William Irvine. I can see after reading about him that the 2x2s built their religion around his word.
The 2x2s foundation is on what they call a "revelation", but it is actually a delusion. They believe that the revelation that the workers are the only true servants of God is the foundation on which their church is built.
Of course, they take some scripture to try to justify this. If they only knew what this scripture meant, they would feel like fools for doing so. (I will explain the scripture after I tell you their delusion.)
Here is the scripture that the workers use to "explain" why this "revelation" that "they are the true servants of God" is the foundation of their church:
Mat 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
You might be scratching your head now, saying to yourself "What???". Ok, let me explain. There was some doubt among many people as to who Jesus Christ was. And this was because they didn't know who the Father was, so they didn't know who Jesus Christ was/is. (see John 6:45, John 8:19). So Jesus Christ asks Peter, "But whom say ye that I am?"
So in a similar way (although quite perverted) the overseer's workers want to know who other people think they are (quite conceited I might add), and "ask" people "Do you believe we are the only true servants of God".
So now Peter says to Jesus Christ (not any workers for crying out loud), "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Which means, from the Jewish perspective, that Jesus Christ is God. Wow! So Peter knows who Jesus Christ really is, God the Saviour.
So now Jesus Christ responds to Peter based on Peter's understanding of who Jesus Christ is with , "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.".
In other words, the heavenly Father has made himself known to Peter, and Peter believes on God so he knows that Jesus Christ is God. Jesus Christ says so, that Peter knows God.
Now, to continue, Jesus Christ makes a statement about HIMSELF, when he says, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
What in the world is Jesus Christ talking about? Well, the workers say that the "rock" that the church is built on is....ok, keep from laughing now...they believe the rock is the revelation that they are the only true servants of God! Ok, ridiculous. But go ahead, ask them. But you may be wondering, "What did Jesus Christ really mean? seeing how there were no "workers" and the workers twist is so radical.?"
First, ask yourself, what is the "rock"? or more specifically, "Who is the rock?" If you were a Jew, and knew the Old Testament, this is easy, as it was for Peter. If we have learned of the Father, then we know who Jesus Christ is..so let's learn of the Father.
The first instance of the rock is in Exodus 17:6.
Exo_17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
This is reference to Jesus Christ. Many drank of the rock, but they didn't know the rock. Who was smitten and water poured out?
Joh_19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Ok, Jesus Christ is the rock. So I don't belabor the point and many lose attention in reading this point, let me summarize with : Jesus is saying that HE is the chief cornerstone, the rock on which the church is founded. And with this the apostles state evenly more plainly:
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

So in summary, the 2x2s believe that a revelation that they are the only true servants of God is the foundation of their religion. And this contrasts strongly with the teachings of Jesus Christ that HE is the cornerstone of the church. Again, the 2x2s teach something completely different than Jesus Christ and lead people to themselves instead of God.
