No Jewelery RuleOverseers don't want women wearing jewelry. Women are not to wear jewelry in the 2x2 religion. If you go to a meeting or convention, observe the women workers and see if they are wearing any jewelry. Verses Misused by Overseers And WorkersThe most often verse I have had when workers preach against jewelry is: 1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; The workers lump all jewelry in with "costly array". Never mind if you are wearing costume jewelry. What should be quoted back to the workers is the verse after this: 1Ti 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. The focus here was on what the women should be doing. That is they should be adorning themselves with good works. I think women workers should be telling people the truth about how their religion started. That would be a good work. It's much better to focus on the real meaning of the author than twisting it for a few people's pleasure. Let's look at a woman adorned with good works: Isaac's ServantThe workers know the story about Abraham's servant who sought a bride for Isaac. Remember what the servant gave to Rebekkah? Was the servant causing Rebekkah to sin? Gen 24:17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the LORD had made his journey prosperous or not. And it came to pass, as the camels had done drinking, that the man took a golden earring of half a shekel weight, and two bracelets for her hands of ten shekels weight of gold; Rebekkah was adorned with good works. When Abraham's servant came and his camels needed to drink she was there to help. That was the important thing: good works. Swallowing the CamelYou are more likely to hear a worker preaching against jewelry than you are to hear them warning about the child sexual abuse of their overseers and workers. I have never heard a sister worker preaching against the overseers with their costly array of fine suits and ties. My aunt Kathy Lewis was condemned by a 2x2 for wearing fancy jewelry. I found out her earrings cost about $2.50. That doesn't sound like costly array or gold. Thought-provoking QuestionsHow sober is it of women to listen to false prophets who make up rules for others, break these rules themselves and condemn others to hell? Is is righteous for women workers to be lesbians and wear modest clothing to meetings when they preach? Is it righteous for overseers to pair lesbians together and gay workers together for a year? As with all the rules that the overseers have made up, they break their rules themselves and condemn disciples of Jesus Christ. |

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. - Jesus Christ speaking to Saul, see Act 26:18, see Salvation through Jesus Christ. | |||||
