Workers Claim They Aren't Hirelings

Workers claim that all other preachers are hirelings because they claim the workers don't take a salary.

The workers preach on the following verses, claiming that because they don't take a salary (they do) that they are not hirelings:

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

Notice that the hireling doesn't care for the sheep. Workers don't care about following the Bible nor do they care about their "sheep".

Here is a workers quote:

Jack Carroll San Diego Convention 10/6/51 "We make no secret of the fact that we are deliberately and purposefully teaching men and women the world over how to do without the hireling ministry and the public building, to worship God in spirit and in truth as those early Christians did in homes consecrated to God as recorded in the New Testament."

and another:

Jack Carroll Hayden Lake Convention 6/25/49 "There is no record of a hired minister in the New Testament to preach the Word of God. No hireling minister has any scriptural right to baptize anybody. Jesus deliberately sought to have the scriptures fulfilled in His life and ministry. Salt is a preservative. Our responsibility is to preserve the Way of the Truth upon the earth."

But what they teach contradicts scripture:

Luke 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

Even the 12 apostles were provided for by God. And that is not their fault. Receiving a salary for their work was not a sin for the apostles. It was the will of Jesus Christ that when he sent out the 12 apostles to do work for him. Because they did his work, he took care of their needs.

While a 2x2, I would listen to their preaching, hear the verses read and nod my head in agreement. But since I've left the 2x2s, it's easy to see that Jesus Christ was saying "I am the good shepherd." That is, only Jesus Christ is the good shepherd. Nobody else is the good shepherd, especially not the workers.

The friends of the workers compensate the workers for their labors. But the workers are not worthy of this because the workers don't preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. Also instead of preaching the gospel, the workers lie to to their followers about the organization. They deceive them about how the organization got started. And what do you call it when they say new workers have to sell everything and give them their money? Are they not earning (rather deceiving people) and is that not how they gain much money? What about the old men and women who leave them large sums of money to be used without any oversight, at their own direction and recommendation? Doesn't this contribute to their income? We know it does.

The other important part of this picture is the verses before. The Bible needs to be read with the context in mind. So let's see what Jesus Christ said before:

John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

The people that came before Jesus Christ were Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses etc. And Jesus Christ said about them "all that came before me were thieves and robbers." But Jesus Christ said "I am the door of the sheep." He didn't say other people were. In fact, other scripture makes it really plain."

Only Jesus Christ is the door to enter into heaven. Abraham was not perfect and his blood will not atone for our sins. Nor will anyone else. Only Jesus Christ is the door.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Only Jesus Christ is the good shepherd. Jesus Christ is the door. The Bible doesn't contradict itself. That's what Jesus Christ said. Evidently, the workers think that Jesus Christ is a liar, according to what they teach. Or they think the Bible is wrong. Why don't you ask them?

Who saved David, a man after God's own heart?

Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Jesus Christ was the good shepherd of David, the previous king of Israel.
