Forbidding to Marry
Forbid - (verb) Refuse to allow
Cult Overseers forbid their workers are to marry. If they marry, then they are kicked out of "the work" by the overseers of that state. You may say What!, The Bible explicitly warns against this! Yes, you're right. Let's read.
Followers or "the friends" are free to marry, except they are to marry within the 2x2 religion.
The Warning of Paul the Apostle
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
Excuses for Overseers Teachings
The overseers claim that having married workers doesn't work well. This argument in favor of "forbidding marriage" is based on the erroneous belief that workers must be homeless. If they didn't have the principle teaching that their workers must be homeless, then they probably wouldn't form the teaching that workers cannot marry.
Fruit of their man-made Commandments
As a result of their commandments, workers end up molesting little kids, having sex with kids and having affairs with men and women in their fields. The overseers typical response is to try to hush things up and move the offending workers to another field. And you might say, "Wouldn't it happen in another field?". Yes, you're right. It just happens in another place and the problem isn't fixed. What's the problem you ask? It's the fact that some have a gift of being celibate and some don't. If you don't have the gift, then get married (but only to a Christian if you are a Christian).
Exceptions to Their Man-Made Rules
Years ago, some workers were allowed to marry. One of them was Dave and Emily Christie who lived in Hawaii. Their son lives in Oregon.
At the beginning of the cult, even families were broken up. The husband was sent with a male worker to preach and the wife was sent with a woman worker to preach. The kids were given to neighbors or relatives. This is a sick perversion of the message of Jesus Christ.h
Betty Medica, a 2x2 woman worker was married to Martin Medica (2x2 man worker), died and her funeral was on Saturday 17th March 2012 in Barbados.
Paul's letter to the Corinthians
Some argue that Paul's letter to the Corinthians is relevant. But Paul was writing about himself as an apostle. The cult workers are not apostles. But I will include the reference below. Saying that workers can marry because apostles can marry is like saying that wolves in sheep's clothing can eat grass because sheep can eat grass.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ was free to marry. So ask yourself why overseers of a cult group forbid their workers from marrying. Cults use their man-made rules on honorable, God-created institutions such as marriage to control and manipulate people. It is not a sin or a crime for people to marry.
1Co 9:1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, have we not power to eat and to drink? Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
