Attend Meetings Rule

It is quite clear that a 2x2 must faithfully attend meetings. People who do not regularly attend meetings are spoken against and people make not of it. A persons' meeting attendance is seen as a direct match to their relationship with God.

I remember the compulsion and obsession that I had with making it to meetings, and being their on time. I did it out of fear. I wasn't always excited to see how the workers had something helpful to share with me. I lived in fear and dread. I felt a huge burden lifted on Sundays when I quit going to meetings. My mind felt more free.

I think the "attend meetings regularly" rule is put in place because people need regular attendance for the brainwashing to hold sway in the person's mind.

People who don't regularly attend meetings are seen as "falling away". And that belief is reinforced because people who don't always attend meetings do quit coming eventually. But these people have only fallen away from the 2x2 religion. Whether they become Christians is another story.

The Bible teaches:

Heb_10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

You may say, "Well here it is. You need to go to meetings.". Wrong. Paul was talking about Christians fellowshipping together. The meetings are about people in the cult getting together to reinforce false doctrine. You cannot use this verse to support witchcraft meeting attendance, just like you cannot use this verse to support 2x2 religion meeting attendance.

Followers are expected to make most (if not all) of the Sunday morning meetings, the "gospel" meetings, the Special Meetings and their Annual Conventions. Failure to meet these expectations of the overseers and workers, will may be met by an elder reporting such failure to a worker and the worker having a "visit" with you at some point. This is the 2x2 way of rule-making and fear motivation.

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. - Jesus Christ speaking to Saul, see Act 26:18, see Salvation through Jesus Christ.
