Matthew 10:37

The Truth

Matthew 10:37 - "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

Here Jesus teaches that we should not love anyone else more than him. This is based on the first commandment that we should love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. God meaning - Father, Son, Holy Ghost. It is also a reflection of the second commandment that we are to love our neighbor as our self; we are not to love our neighbor more than ourself or more than God. To love others or ourself more than God is idolatry.

Also in Bible

The Bible clearly indicates we are to love others and not hate them. Loving God causes us to love others more, not less. Loving God above all else helps us keep our relationships in order.

Eph_6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
Mat_19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

We don't have to hate our parents to love God. Hating parents is certainly not taught in the Bible. Loving our parents is comptabile with loving God. God just doesn't want us to love anyone else MORE (idolatry) than him.

Pro_1:8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

The Worker's Lie

If I was to paraphrase the workers, their rendering of scripture would go like this:

"He that loveth father or mother more than the workers is not worthy of Meetings: and he that loveth son or daughter more than the workers is not worthy of the Workers' Way.

The workers build on their primary lie that they are the apostles of God. Their next conclusion is that they must be as God and if you don't love them more than your father and mother (who are probably warning you against the cult) then you are not worthy of God (them). Here's an example email of Jay Wicks who likes to insinuate that he is an apostle of Jesus Christ.

Hi Brad, ...

Now you had another question as to whether or not I teach in Africa or here on this side that I am an apostle of Jesus Christ like Paul or Peter and if not, then what office do you say you fill? Of course to us an apostle is simply a sent one or one sent by God so I guess you could say the office I fill is indeed that of an apostle. I don't suppose I've ever preached it as I would prefer that those listening would make up their own minds. Brad, if you feel that I am not sent from God then it would seem to me a waste of your time to continue this dialog. I feel secure in who I am and am not offended if you feel otherwise.

Sincerely yours, Jay

Uses of Lie

This lie is used to pressure people to ignore family and friends who warn people about the cult

It is used to get people to make decisions based on fear of not pleasing workers, not on love of God and neighbor.

This lie is joined with many other lies to get people to profess. This lie is repeated in many forms to produce conformity to the worker's way

This lie is used to instill fear in 2x2 followers whose children "offer for the work". The parents may fear that if they don't allow their child into "the work" or agree with it, then they are not worthy of God. Please notice how the workers selectively replace themselves with God in insinuations. Any sensible parent would be worried about their children preaching in a destructive cult group that practices mind control and is secretive about their beliefs. This verse is twisted and used to pressure people who have been warned by friends about the workers and their cult. They may insinuate that they are "God" and if you don't do what they want, then you love something else more than them and are therefore not worthy of God. The workers are not God, and I don't believe they are sent by God.

Results of lie
  1. Pride of workers who gain followings for themselves and make themselves like God
  2. Confusion of followers in trying to understand the Bible
  3. Motivation by fear and discomfort among followers.
  4. Confusion about who God is and what He is like.
  5. Fear of displeasing workers
  6. Fear of confronting workers, asking them probing questions or questioning their motives
